Gene is Home from Doernbechers

Great new! Gene was able to return home today. He's not able to walk by himself yet but he is so glad to be out of the hospital. If you haven't been able to read Gene's story you can find it here .

Doernbechers is still full of children in need and they themselves are in need of some items that perhaps you can help with.

They have a "wish list" that they are in constant need of. Why? Simply because they are trying to make the kids that have to be there as happy and content as they can.

We know how much better we feel when someone shows how much they care for our feelings when we are down. Just imagine how the children feel.

Did you know that Wednesday is bingo day at Doernbechers? I didn't either. That is until my nephew was up there. The prizes they win are supplied by carring an compasionate people that care.

To be completely honest I have never donated anything to Doernbechers. Why? Because I had no idea they needed anything. Now that I know let me assure you that situation has been remedied.

Time and unforseen occurance befall us all. However when we are able to assist others when we are able whether or not we should isnt a question. It's a responsiblity. One of many we have however this one brings us the greatest joy. Knowing our actions have brought joy to a suffering child.

Thank You for your support

Get Well Soon Gene

OHSU Doernbechers Childrens Hospital in Portland, OR

Thank you for all the care and support that you have shown us as Gene’s been going through his trials.

(You can read “Gene’s Story”here)

When Cindy the Child Life learned about the Screen saver we did she let me know about the Doernbechers Wish List. If you don’t know what that means don’t worry I didn’t either. I was so excited to share this “Wish List” with you when I found out what it is.

The Doernbechers wish list is a list of items that Doernbechers is in need of all the time. With the influx of children they see they always need a new supply of toys and games for the children they care for. They truly do the best that they can to make the experience as painless as possible for the children and their families.

When I was up at the hospital today my sister mentioned not only how amazed she was but also how much she appreciates the positive attitudes of the nursing staff there. They not only perform their jobs well they do it with a happy heart. They enter each child’s room with a bright smile and a cheery disposition. This has been such a comfort to all of us.

To read the rest of this story and see the wish list please continue here...

Thank You again, Dannah

Gene's Story

This is a special post that is very close to my heart. As I am writting this I am up at OHSU's Doernbechers childrens hospital. I am waiting for my nephew Gene to come out of recovery after one of his many surgeries he has had in the past few short weeks. He was born with many physical problems one of them being "water on the brain" his body can't remove the fluid that is constantly flowing through his brain. He has been up here for a while to get his shunt replaced but for many reasons one of which being infection the doctors have been unable to do so untill this morning.
Not to long ago the doctor came out and told us everything went well. We were all so relived untill it was taking a long time for him to come out of recovery. We just found out he is in severe pain and he shouln't have so much pain. They are now sending him for a chest x-ray. The hope was he could maybe go home Friday now I guess we will have to wait and see. If you would like to read more about Gene please go to bit.ly/3yxOFC There you will find more of Gene's story and something I made to share with you as a thank you to Doernbechers' doctors and nurses. My hope is that you will like it too.
